International flights. The majority of visitors arrive by air through Chinggis Khaan International Airport located 18 kilometers to the south west of Ulaanbaatar. The Mongolian airlines (MIAT), the national flag carrier of Mongolia, operate scheduled flights to oversee destinations such as Beijing, Moscow, Berlin, Seoul, Irkutsk and Huh Hot. Besides MIAT, Aeroflot-Russian Airlines, Korean Airlines and Air China (CAAC) have scheduled flights to/from Ulaanbaatar.
Railway. The only other way foreigners can enter and leave Mongolia is the Trans-Mongolian and Trans-Siberian Railway connecting Mongolia with Europe and Southern Asia. The Trans Siberian railway operates some 7,925 kilometers from Beijing to St.Petersburg, running for 1,110 kilometers inside Mongolia from Russian border via Ulaanbaatar to the Chinese border. Crossing the Gobi desert, mountains, steppes and Siberia, the Trans-Siberian railway is more than a simple way of transportation, it is an exciting experience.
